Lingka Festival means “the day of enjoying happiness” in English. It is held from the first day to the 15th day of the fifth month in Tibetan calendar.
In Tibetan, the “Lingka Festival” is called “Zamling Chisang”, which means a festival for people to enjoy themselves together.
The festival features rich activities and there are two main themes: worship and entertainment.
During the festival, all people, no matter men or women, old or young, bring butter tea and barley wine to a piece of grassland to have a good time, sitting on Tibetan rugs in small groups under white tents with various of entertainments.
