On April 15, 2001, Kunming-Diqing-Lhasa air route was officially launched. The Boeing 757-200 typed plane flies once on every Sunday from Kunming, capital of South China’s Yunnan to Lhasa, capital of Tibet.

On April 15, 1997, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council held an experience sharing meeting on assisting work in Tibet.
