Shannan’s 2018 tourism revenues top 1.68 bln yuan

Shannan city, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, saw 4.1 million tourists from home and abroad in 2018, up 17.8 percent year-on-year. Visitors brought 1.68 billion yuan in tourism revenue, a year-on-year increase of 18.3 percent, according to Shannan Tourism Development Committee. Shannan's tourism industry reached a higher level. 


The year 2018 witnessed great achievements in Shanna's tourism industry. Shannan city was listed as one of the top destinations for outdoor sports last year. Samye town was among the top 20 tourist destinations with the greatest potential for development. Shannan south ring road, a self-driving tour line, was rated as the most unique tour line in Tibet. Yulmed ring road was listed as one of the top ten self-driving lines in western China. Yamzhog Yumco scenic was awarded the second price on the pilot work of high-quality scenic spots in Tibet.


In addition, Shannan vigorously promotes China Tibet Yarlung Cultural Festival, Chanang Pulu Cultural Festival and other tourism brands. With the expansion of its tourism market, transportation in Shannan is gradually improving. The direct flight from Lhasa to Wuhan has been launched, increasing the number of tourists visiting Shannan and other places of China's Tibet.
