Cultural event featuring Belt & Road civilizations kicks off in Barcelona

July 1,2019--The culture event series “Meet Across Millennium” showcasing the civilizations along the Belt and Road kicked off Friday in Barcelona, the second largest city in Spain.

The event was co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office (SCIO) of China and the Chinese Embassy in Barcelona.
Mr. Joan Sabate Borras, vice representative of Spanish Central Government in Catalan Province, Sun Zhijun, vice head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Lin Nan, Chinese Consul General in Barcelona attended the opening ceremony.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sun said the event shows the deepening cultural exchanges between China and Spain.
Council General Lin said that the Belt and Road initiative put forward by China has brought opportunities and prosperity, connected the world and promoted common development of human civilization.
This cultural event could enhance the understanding between the two peoples and strengthen bilateral relations, boosting Chinese and western communications in culture, said Lin.
The Spanish government will stick to openness and reject protectionism in any forms to cement the friendly relationship between China and Spain, said Mr. Joan Sabate Borras at the opening ceremony.
The cultural events will be held during June 28 to July 1 in Barcelona and Madrid featuring singing and dancing performances, books and photos exhibitions and film screening to showcase the harmonious co-existence between nature and people in western China.
The cultural event will also take the delegation to Israel.
