On June 4, 2001, the construction of the largest-scale international observation station for cosmic ray was completed in Yangpachen Township, Damxung County, Tibet. The construction project was launched in 2000, with a total investment of 10 million dollars from the Institute of High Energy Physics of Chinese Academy of Science and Italy National Institute of Nuclear Physics. Tibet University, Shandong University, Yunnan University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Zhengzhou University and Hong Kong University took part in the research and construction.
On June 4, 1981, Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme made a speech on the meeting held by the People’s Government of Tibet Autonomous Region. He stressed that the regional government should implement the religious freedom policy made by the CPC to protect the rightful religious activities of believers and mass, and fought against the anti-revolution activities and other crimes with the disguise of religion.
